ROXBURY, NJ - With football season about to begin, members of Roxbury Company #1 Fire and EMS participated in athletic injury training this week.

Roxbury High School Athletic Trainer Joe Koch met with members of the department for their yearly review of football injuries, said Roxbury Chemical Engine Co. #1 EMS Captain Ryan Fischlein.

"Both assistant trainers and members of the first aid squad drilled on how to properly remove players' jerseys, pads and helmets," he said. "They practiced moving the player into the correct position on a backboard."

Fischlein said the training is done each year "to make any game-day injuries move smoothly and in a timely manner to facilitate speedy care for the injured party."

The Gaels are scheduled to play their season-opener Friday at 7 p.m. in an away game against West Morris Central in Chester.
