ROXBURY, NJ - Using a tall crane, workers on Sept. 13 installed a new cupola atop the Roxbury Schools Administration Building.
The pre-fabricated cupola replaced the rotted former cupola, which was taken down Aug. 23. The old cupola was 116 years old. It housed a bell atop the "Gray Building" that once rang to alert the community when each school day was about to begin.
The district is now deciding where the old bell will be put on display. The work is part of a historically-sensitive refurbishing of the building and the adjacent Lincoln-Roosevelt School.
