ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School Boys Basketball team on Tuesday bested Montville 59-37 and advanced its record to an impressive 14-4.
In front of their home crowd, the Gaels got off to a great start and finished the first quarter with a score of 21-9. By halftime, they were up 33-22 and were ready to drain a few more baskets in the second half.
Junior Kyle Haegele tallied 21 points for himself, leading the Gaels in scoring once again. Brian Nichols added 13 of his own, and was also a pivotal factor on the defensive side of the ball.
Other players, includingMax Schabel and Justin Bosland, could be found playing major roles in the defensive effort as they helped keep Roxbury in the lead.
Colby Snoke, in particular, made a huge impact; he could be seen in every corner of the court making sure there were no open shots taken by Montville. On several occasions, he found himself being helped off the floor by his teammates after drawing a crucial foul.
Roxbury's next game will be on Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. when the team will take to the road and challenge Parsippany Hills and also look to further its great record.
