ROXBURY, NJ - Despite scoring first and eventually racking up 24 points, the Roxbury High School football team on Friday lost to Morris Knolls.

The 34-24 defeat came on the Gaels' home field during the team's annual homecoming game. It leaves Roxbury with a 2-4 record so far.

With the Gaels leading 10-7 in the second quarter, the Golden Eagles scrambled to a 21-10 lead going into halftime thanks to a 50-yard touchdown run by senior Patrick Gallagher. The Gaels were never able to re-take the lead.

Roxbury next takes on the 3-3 Mount Olive team on Oct. 19 in a 7 p.m. away game.
