ROXURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School ice hockey team maintained its undefeated record Sunday in a tight game against Howell.

The game ended in a 2-2 tie that moved the Gaels' record to 2-0-1.

Roxbury got on the scoreboard in the first period with a power play goal by Kevin Keane, with assists from Ethan Barooah and Nick Thomas. That lead held until early in the third period, when Howell tied the score.

But the Gaels again took the lead, with five minutes to play, when Thomas assisted on a goal from Nick Hefferle, who scored his seventh goal in three games. The Roxbury lead was short-lived as Howell tied the game 30 seconds later.

The Gaels had some great chances on a power play in the final two minutes, but Howell goaltender Dan McEvoy made the saves. Ryan Callahan was again strong in goal for Roxbury, stopping 21 of 23 shots.

Roxbury's next game is against Chatham on Thursday, at 6:15 p.m. at Mennen Arena.
