ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School boys ice hockey team started off the season the right way on Saturday afternoon with a defeat over Mendham.

Playing at Aspen Ice in Randolph, the Gaels skated to a 9-3 victory, striking for four goals in the first period, three in the second and two more in the third. Mendham didn't get on the scoreboard until the middle period, with one goal, and came up with two more in the final.

During the game, Roxbury's Billy Hefferle made three points and two assists. Goals were also scored by Nicholas Hefferle (who made two), Kevin Keane, Joseph Carey, Brendan Hartos and Shane Miller.

Assists were also chalked up to Johnny Facchini, Miller, Nicholas Hefferle, Kyle Jenkins and Dillon Miller

Roxbury goaltender Tyler Marston made 19 saves during the contest.

The team next takes on Randolph on Monday at Mennen Sports Arena at 5 p.m.
