ROXBURY, NJ - The Roxbury High School hockey team posted a dominating win Monday in its second game of the holiday tournament.
In a game against River Dell that could have been over in the first period were it not for a wall erected by their opponents goalie, the Gaels secured a 4-0 shut-out.
Roxbury fired 20 shots on goal during the first period, but River Dell goalie Michael Bussanich kept his team in the game recording 19 saves. The only goal of the period came from Nick Hefferle with an assist from Nick Thomas.
The second period saw more of the same as Roxbury continued to keep the play in the River Dell end. Hefferle added two more goals for another hat trick this season, with assists from Thomas, Nick Falco and Kevin Keane.
Thomas added an unassisted goal in the third to close out the scoring.
Goaltender Ryan Callahan recorded his first shutout of the season, stopping all nine shots.
The win moves Roxbury to 6-1-1 on the season. The Gaels play there final holiday tournament game on Thursday at 8:30 p.m. against Ramapo at the Ice Vault in Wayne.
