Roxbury Volleyball Falls to Tough West Morris Central

Roxbury Gaels volleyball team

CHESTER, NJ - The Roxbury volleyball team sustained a tough defeat Monday against West Morris Central, a loss its coach hopes will serve as a chance for the Gaels to learn.

Coming off a 2-0 Saturday win against Parsippany, Roxbury, ranked 20, was defeated 2-0  by The Wolfpack, ranked 16.

"We played very tough against the reigning conference champions, and the girls will use this early setback to fuel the the rest of our week," said Gaels coach Anthony McMichael. He had kind words to say about the coach of West Morris.

"Jim Balella is one of the top coaches in New Jersey, and his teams consistently compete and defeat the top teams in the state, year in and year out," McMichael said. "Central is extremely well coached, and we look forward to hosting them on our annual Dig Pink Cancer Night."

That event takes place Oct. 16 at 7 p.m.

Ropxbury senior middle blockers Lexi DeNure and Rachel Roberts "are doing a great job in the middle," McMichael said, adding "They continue to improve each practice and it is exciting to see them excel on the court."

He said senior Setter Jenna Shirkey "had a wonderful match on the service line and she continues to provide great leadership as the quarterback of our offense." The coach also saw good skills from Erin Hawley, Sydney Dunsmore and Kendall Torpin, commenting that "all are serving exceptionally well and they provide stellar back-court defense."

McMichael said freshmen outside hitters Amber Chen and Quinn Longo "continue to shine in the early going."

The coach said the Gaels look forward to its matches against Montville and Mendham this week.

Thank You Roxbury

November 9, 2017

It is not an easy task to put yourself out there and run for office.

All four of the candidates who ran for Roxbury Township Board of Education had the best interests of our district and its students at heart, and all four of us brought a unique perspective to the table.

Roxbury would have “won” regardless of who prevailed in Tuesday's election.

Bearing that in ...

I Am Voting For Heather Champagne for Roxbury School Board

Today I will be voting for Heather McMurchie Champagne for Roxbury NOW.

Why? Because she is the best candidate for the position, in my opinion.

She has been involved in the community, not just at the school level. She understands what changes need to be made to best benefit the schools and most importantly our children.

Having a child in our schools, Heather is able to see first hand the ...
