SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ - The 2014 NJ Group 6A State Champion & National Gold Medal Scotch Plains-Fanwood Marching Band will host their 17th Annual Marching Band Festival on Saturday, September 19th, 2015 at 5:30 p.m.
The competition will run for about three hours, featuring upwards of ten marching bands from the surrounding area and New York. Trophies will be awarded based on the size of the groups.
“It’s fun,” said Nancy Voltz, a spokesperson for the event. “It’s under the lights on the varsity football field and attracts a lot of families and friends that come to support each band. There are color guards, props, music, performance – it’s exciting.”
The 180-member SPFHS Raider Marching Band will perform their 2015 show, “Chance Love - Tales Beneath a Persian Moon,” under the direction of Mr. Durand Thomas.
Admission will be $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors, including a free program. Food, drinks and 50/50 raffle will be available all evening.
Scotch Plains Fanwood High School is located at 667 Westfield Road, Scotch Plains, NJ. The varsity field is located behind the high school at the rear of the parking lot.
