Mannuzza & Lamela, LLC hosted a ribbon cutting with Scotch Plains Mayor Kevin Glover to officially open its office downtown in February 2015.

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - This tax season marks its first in Scotch Plains for Mannuzza & Lamela, LLC, a full-service Certified Public Accounting firm. While the company was established only recently in 2015, the idea of its formation began over five years ago when Gary S. Mannuzza Jr., CPA, and Michael Lamela, CPA, first began working together at a larger public accounting firm.

The accountants worked alongside one another, and often discussed different aspects of the profession and industry that they hoped to one day improve. With their strong backgrounds and experience within the profession, they are confident in their ability to better service the existing needs of business and individual clients.

Mannuzza & Lamela recognizes there is a significant deficiency in the attention that most businesses and individuals get from their accountants, and the two believe that it leads to missed opportunities and potentially overpaid tax liabilities. As a result, they take a proactive approach in assisting their clients in identifying tax saving opportunities and educating them on the financial effects of their decisions.

Corporate, partnership and individual tax preparation and planning are core to any healthy organization, according to the certified public accountants.

“We take care of filing accurate returns, electing and choosing appropriate tax structures for your company, and look ahead to see how tax planning can affect your future, preventing problems wherever possible,” according to the firm’s principals.

Mannuzza & Lamela prides itself on providing clients with personal and professional service.  According to the local accountants, many businesses and individuals do not want to deal with a large CPA firm, but most need more expertise than a seasonal tax preparation shop can offer. For this reason, Mannuzza & Lamela is strategically positioned to offer quality service to this market.

Mannuzza & Lamela, LLC, certified public accountants and consultants, are located at 1906 Westfield Ave., Suite B in Scotch Plains. For more information, contact,, or call 908-680-6185.

Why We Keep Kosher

Why We Keep Kosher

This week's parshah, Shemini, introduces the Torah's dietary laws. Animals must chew their cud and have split hooves to be kosher, fish need fins and scales, and a list of forbidden fowl is enumerated.

To those of us in Jewish education, it is a continuing source of disappointment that so many Jews still believe the kosher laws to be outdated.

April 21, 2018

Dear Editor:

After Bruce Patterson of Garwood was stopped from speaking at the Union County Freeholder meeting of March 22 regarding the politics behind refusing to give the party line to a sitting Freeholder, I thought this brazen suppression of free speech could not go unanswered.

At the April 19 meeting I answered with these comments.
