Annual Fanwood Scotch Plains Rotary Woof Walk

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Save the date for the 4th Annual Rotary Woof Walk which will take place on Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (rain or shine).  The walk will begin and end at the Scotch Plains Village Green. Dogs and their human companions will take a leisurely 1.5 mile walk through the streets and neighborhoods of Scotch Plains. Upon returning to the Village Green there will be music, food and festivities.

Enter you dog in one of the four contests, Amazing Trick, Look-A-Like (dog and owner), Best Dressed, and the ever popular “Face Only a Mother Could Love” where the three time champion, Johnny Russo, will defend his title.

Prior registration for the walk  is required and is $10 before the event and $15 on the day of event.  Registration forms are available on-line at RotaryWoofWalk.com.

Proceeds from the walk will go to the Scotch Plains Police K-9 Unit, the Fanwood Police Bicycle Patrol and various other Rotary charities.

This year’s Leader of the Pack sponsors are The Newmark School, Family Investors, Schiller & Pittenger, Dave LaBush-Realtor, The YMCA and Fanwood Animal Hospital.  If you are interested in being a sponsor the deadline is April 30.  Three different levels of Sponsorships are available.  If interested please contact Denise Hughes at (908) 490-0743 or Denise.Hughes.Rotary@gmail.com .

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
