Join community members at the Scotch Plains Public Library on Fridays at 12:00 Noon for “Movies Based on True Stories.”

April 21: The Queen of Katwe (PG, 124 min)
A 2016 American biographical sports drama film, The Queen of Katwe tells the story of Phiona Mutesi, a Ugandan girl who sees her world rapidly change after being introduced to the game of chess.  Starring Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo.

April 28: Sully (PG-13, 96 min)
Sully is the story of Chelsey Sullenberger, an American pilot who became a hero after landing his damaged plane on the Hudson River in order to save the flight's passengers and crew.  Starring Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart, and Laura Linney.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
