CRANFORD, NJ -- The Cranford baseball team battled back from a 2-0 deficit to defeat Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 3-2, with two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning on Monday afternoon.
The Raiders jumped on Cougars starting pitcher Gordon Graceffo in the first inning and scored a pair of runs on RBIs from Peter Warren and Peter Yarem. Cranford scored a run on an RBI single by James Wozniak in the second inning to cut the lead in half. The teams traded goose eggs until the bottom of the seventh.
Ryan Bakie tied the score with a single off Timmy Geissel, who went all the way for the Raiders. Later in the inning, Bakie crossed the plate with the game-winning run on a double by Brian Oblachinski.
Jake Canavan went 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored for the Raiders.
The Raiders (2-1) next host Union on Tuesday, April 11. Meanwhile, Cranford, now 1-2, takes on Gov. Livingston.
