SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- After dropping three straight games to St. Joseph, Union Catholic and Mendham, Scotch Plains-Fanwood broke out of its slump by pushing across 14 runs against overmatched Linden team. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the Raiders put up a 6-spot in the bottom of the second to take a commanding 8-1 lead.

Colin McAlindin was 2-for-2 with two doubles and three RBI on the day. Red-hot Jake Canavan added a single and two RBI. Peter Yarem had a hit and scored three runs. Meanwhile, pitchers Marc Occhipinti (2 2/3 innings), Nick McCormack (1 1/3 innings), and Erik Kaufman (1 inning), making his first varsity appearance, combined to tame the Tigers over five innings.

Scotch Plains-Fanwood improved to 4-4 on the season. The Raiders next host Bridgewater-Raritan (5-3) in a non-conference game on Wednesday, April 19 at 4 p.m.
