Baseball: Scotch Plains-Fanwood Returns to Winning Ways, Defeats Crosstown Rival Union Catholic, 11-2

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- After suffering its first loss of the baseball season to Elizabeth on Monday, Scotch Plains-Fanwood rebounded to defeat crosstown rival Union Catholic by a score of 11-2 on Tuesday.

Timmy Geissel pitched 5 innings, giving up two earned run on three hits, striking out six and walking one to improve to 2-0. Nick Stone threw 2 innings of scoreless relief. Peter Yarem, George Mueller, George Leichtling and Jake Canavan each had two hits.

Matthew Lettieri went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Union Catholic, which hosted the game originally scheduled to be played at SPF.

The Raiders travel to Linden for their next game on Thursday, while Union Catholic hosts Governor Livingston.
