SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains Fanwood 12-U Blue baseball team has won five consecutive games in the New Providence Green League. Friday night's 5-2 victory over the previously unbeaten Garwood Gunners capped a 3-0 week for the Raiders, who are coached by Tim Dursee.

Ryan Brandl pitched four innings to earn his second win of the summer and Adam Gross fired the final two frames to notch the save. Gross fought his way out of a bases loaded jam with no outs in the sixth with help from a sliding catch by Brandl.

The Raiders scored early on Michael Grill's solo home run to deep center and George Dursee's booming RBI double in the first inning. Matt Higgins ripped a clutch two-run single with two outs in the second. Solid defensive play by second baseman Gavin Morrobel and shortstop Ryan Cawley also lifted the team.

The win streak includes victories over Madison, Westfield Grey, Millburn and Springfield. The Raiders  prepare for tournament action in Cooperstown later this month.
