SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Starting pitcher Mike Farr threw a complete game shutout and helped his own cause by hitting a double and scoring twice as St. Joseph (Metuchen) defeated Scotch Plains-Fanwood, 9-0.

Farr, a senior, yielded just four singles and struck out 9 Raider batters in a dominating performance.

"He (Farr) was very aggressive and did a great job," said Raiders head coach Joe Higgins.  "He had an over the top downward angle on his fastball, and his curve was sharp. We couldn't touch it."

St. Joseph's offense banged out 15 hits and scored 5 runs (3 earned) in 3 2/3 innings against Nick McCormack, who made his first varsity start after picking up a win in relief last week against Elizabeth.
