LINDEN, NJ -- The Union Catholic bowling team came up with arguably its biggest win of the season when it avenged its only losses of the season on Monday by defeating Roselle, 2-1, during a Position Round matchup at the Jersey Lanes in Linden.

UC, which lost to Roselle 2-1 and 3-0 in its two previous meetings this season, finally defeated its nemesis as Goldera Surles, Owen Quinn, and Kaitlyn Lowey led the charge for the Vikings.

Surles, one of the state's best bowlers, rolled games of 234, 197 and 223 for a 654 series. Quinn had games of 200, 181 and 173 for a total of 554, and Lowey rolled games of 146, 178, and 177 for a series of 501.

The Union Catholic J.V. squad, highlighted by a season best game from Sydney Salomon, also came out on top with a 3-0 victory over Roselle. Salomon, a junior, rolled a 170, her best game in two years. Salomon just missed surpassing her career best of 171 that she rolled as a freshman.

After every shooting, we talk about motive, mental illness and every other distraction from the real problem — guns.
