Dear Editor:

My name is Ronen Gold. I am a Westfield resident and an oral surgeon in town. On Saturday evening, June 3, at the W Hoboken Hotel, I am going to step into the ring to fight against (Fanwood's) Gerry Cooney. Yes, the well-known heavyweight fighter. No, I have not lost my mind.

YCS is an organization that provides services to thousands of New Jersey families who have children (birth through adulthood) with special needs. Some of the children at YCS live in group homes and are separated from their loved ones. Some have been affected by trauma, others have intellectual and developmental disabilities that adversely affect their behavior.

This is the YCS annual fundraiser; our wish is to raise as much money as possible to provide for these children who desperately need our help. We are asking for support. Any donation no matter how big or small is greatly appreciated.

The sponsorship and ticket form is attached. Your support is greatly appreciated. YCS website is www.ycs.org.

Many of us feel uncomfortable to ask when someone in distress is suicidal for fear we are putting this thought in their minds. This is not true. It is a myth that asking about suicide increases the risk of suicide. The most common mental illness is depression. Some people are ...
