HILLSIDE, NJ -- Union Catholic, led by Ibn Lynn's 23 points and a tenacious defensive effort, continued its recent surge by defeating Newark Tech 68-58 in the 55th Joe Silver Holiday Tournament in Hillside on Wednesday to advance to the Championship Game. 

The Vikings, which won its third straight game to improve to 3-2, will clash with East Orange in the final on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Hillside. East Orange (4-1) advanced with a 62-58 victory over Piscataway.

Union Catholic, which has used a ball-hawking defense to create numerous turnovers during its winning streak, used that formula again vs. Newark Tech to jump out to a 36-11 halftime lead. UC forced 21 turnovers in the game, came up with 16 steals, and held Newark Tech to 21 fiaeld goals.

Lynn, a 6-5 senior guard, was sensational for UC, hitting eight of his nine shots, and had seven rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Justin Archer continued his strong low-post play for UC with 11 points, six blocks and six rebounds, and guards Rob Miller (12 points and three steals) and Jaheim Tanksley (11 points and three steals) continued their strong play.
