COLONIA, NJ -- Following up on their strong season last year, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood boys basketball team started off the season with a decisive win over Colonia, 53-32, on the road.

The Raiders opened the game on a 14-2 run and never looked back. Senior Tommy Drubulis pumped in 13 points. Lamont Cruse added 10 points. Justin Guy score nine points in his varsity debut, as did Dwight Laylor. Meanwhile, the tight defense that was the hallmark of last year's success was on display again.

"Our energy, effort and defensive play won us the game tonight," Raiders Head Coach Steve Siracusa told TAPintoSPF. "Everyone was focused on playing great team defense and executing on the offensive end. We have to continue to have that be our identity this season."
