SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Kenny Ryder scored the first two varsity goals of his career, Kevin Degnan scored twice, and Jon DiDario had three assists and a goal to power the Union Catholic boys soccer team to a 6-0 victory over Roselle Catholic on Thursday in Scotch Plains.

UC goalie Justin Couto made four saves to secure the first shutout of his career as the Vikings improved to 7-2-2 on the season. It's the third straight victory for UC and its sixth victory in the last seven games.    

Degnan, a senior, scored the first two goals of the game for the Vikings to raise his season total to a team-leading 11 goals. Degnan now has 34 goals in his career.

DiDario closed out the first half with a goal to make it 3-0, and then Ryder scored the next two goals on headers off corner kicks to increase the lead tp 5-0. Teddy Amo scored his first varsity goal to close out the scoring for UC, which had 13 shots in the game.     

Alex Parillo and Arthur Almeida each had an assist for Union Catholic.
