BASKING RIDGE, NJ – With a 106-64 victory over Pingry on Tuesday, the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Boys Swimming Team became the first school to earn ten wins this season amongst the North 2 Group B rankings.

“It’s not so much the win itself, but it’s swimming a competitive meet against a good team, and that’s really what helps,” Coach Jessica Hulnik said after the meet. “We can put together some good swims against good competition, and this is what we’re going to see down the line. It doesn’t get easier.”

Led by Chris Bondarowicz and Josh Cohen, the Raiders took first place in eight of the eleven races held. Bondarowicz notched points for Scotch Plains-Fanwood in both the 200 IM and come-from-behind victory in the 100 breaststroke, while Cohen commanded the 200 free and 500 free.

“Pingry is a historically great program and we usually have some good matchups,” Hulnik said. “To come in here and swim against such a great program pushes us, gets us ready for our county meet this weekend and the State Tournament. We like to be challenged.”

The Raiders will return to the pool on Wednesday, Jan. 27 against Oratory Prep at the Fanwood Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY). The Union County Championship will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31 at Sonny Werblin Recreation Center (Busch Campus) at Rutgers University.

Having suffered unbearably under successive oppressive regimes, many of those political activists genuinely thought communism would be better ...
