GLOUCESTER, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood boys swim team continued along its path to a state championship by defeating Randolph, 104-66 in the Semifinal of the NJSIAA Tournament (North Jersey, Section 1, Public B).
The Raiders received strong individual performances by Brody Rash, who won the 200 IM and the 100 Breaststroke, Josh Cohen, who won the 100 Freestyle and swam the Butterfly leg of the 200 Medley Relay, and Chris Bondarowicz, who took the 100 Butterfly and swam Backstroke for the victorious 200 Medley Relay team. Eric Chang took the 200 Freestyle, and Matt Auda won the 500 Freestyle. Vinny Marciano, who won the 50 Freestyle and 100 Backstroke, starred for Randolph.
"We are fairly versatile and moved some guys around today. I thought we did a great job against a solid team from Randolph," said coach Jess Hulnik. "We will face a powerful Mainland team Sunday in the state finals."
"It was another good meet for the team," said junior Brody Rash, who won the 100 Breaststroke. "The intensity was still there from our win at sectionals, and we are really excited to return to the state finals."
"With a big win last week against Morristown, we wanted to make sure we did not look past Randolph," said Chris Bondarowicz, who won the 100 Butterfly. "It was great to get this one under our belts. Everyone had a chance to pitch in today."
