SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- The Scotch Plains-Fanwood Boys Varsity Tennis team opened their 2017 season with a resounding 5-0 triumph over Union Catholic.
 
At first singles, junior and team co-captain, Brandon Glickstein, led the way, routing Dylan Teixeira, 6-0, 6-0. Fellow co-captain and senior, Ewan Jones, put another point on the board, overwhelming Dan Nocera 6-1, 6-0. Freshman, Brett Strug, enjoyed a successful debut at 3rd singles, beating Sawyer Reis, 6-0, 6-1.
 
 
Senior, Neel Thombre and junior, Nirmit Damania, blanked Gabe Abood and Kebin Li in their 1st doubles match, while sophomore, Ryan Cleary and freshman, Brian Huang, dismissed Terry Lin and Pat Dill 6-0, 6-0.
 
"Overall, it's nice to begin the season with a victory", said Coach Gary Wasserman. "We have a relatively young squad, but I really like the positive energy, which goes a long way towards building team chemistry," he added.

 
The Raiders continue this week with matches vs. New Providence, JP Stevens, Westfield, and Glen Ridge.
