Boys Track and Field: Union Catholic Places 2nd at the Union County Relays and ran a NJ #3 time in the SMR

JERSEY CITY, NJ -- The Union Catholic boys track and field team had several strong performances when the Vikings finished second at the Union County Relays on Sunday at the Jersey City Armory.   

The Vikings, who were edged for first-place by Rahway, 58-56, won the 4x400 relay in 3:27.26, finished first in the sprint medley in a NJ #3 3:36.92, and won the shot put as Brandon Patterson unloaded a meet best 55-6 3/4.

UC also placed second in the 4x200, second  in the distance medley, fourth in the high jump, fourth in the shuttle hurdles, and fifth in the 4x800.

In the SMR, Elijah Brown ran 51.2 for 400, Daryl Miller 22.6 for 200, Makay Johnson 22.5 for 200, and Justin Cadas 1:59.9 for 800. In the 4x4, MIller split 52.1, Johnson 50.6, Christian Albanese 53.4, and Brown 50.5. 

The DMR featured a 2:00.1 800 from Cadas and 4:34.8 anchor from Andre Rodriguez. 

The Vikings will be back in action on Thursday's at the Non-Public State Relays at 4:00 p.m. at the Bennett Center in Toms River.
