FANWOOD, NJ -- The next great dessert treat may owe its creation to sibling rivalry.
When Rob Watterson of Nick's Pizza, which recently added flavored cannoli to its menu, and Brandon Watterson of Rocko's Ice Cream almost crashed their vehicles vying over a parking lot, the two realized they could put their respective desserts together to create Cannoli Ice Cream pies. The brothers spent the next few days perfecting their Cannoli ice Cream Pies in a variety of flavors: Espresso, Chocolate, Chocolate-Peanut Butter, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Traditional Cannoli.
The treats are rich in flavor from the exclusive cannoli cream filling available locally only at Nick's Pizza. When combined and then flash-frozen at Rocko's, the result is a dessert bursting with flavor and with a softer consistency than a traditional ice cream pie. The pies are topped with chopped cannoli shells, powdered sugar, special sauces, and a real cannoli for a stunning visual presentation.
"I like it better than a regular cannoli," said Liz Strong, who sampled the frozen treat at Nick's. "I'm ordering."
"Each one is made to order. People love them," says Brandon Watterson of Rocko's. "Anyone who has tasted them has told us that they immediately want to order one."
"We've got a big hit on our hands. The response we've gotten is incredible," adds Rob Watterson of Nick's. "No one else has our cannoli and nobody is able to create the pies."
