Community Access Unlimited (CAU) to Hold Walk-a-thon to Raise Funds for People With Disabilities and At-Risk Youth


CLARK, NJ -- Community Access Unlimited (CAU) will hold its Annual Ira Geller Memorial Walk-a-Thon Saturday, Sept. 16, at Oak Ridge Park in Clark to raise funds for programs and services that support people with disabilities and at-risk youth.

CAU is a statewide, Elizabeth-based nonprofit providing support programs and services to adults with disabilities as well as youth served under the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to enable them to live independently in the community, providing supports in areas including housing, vocational skills and life-skills training, education, advocacy and recreation.

Registration begins at 11:00 a.m., with the walk starting at 12:00 p.m. Lunch will follow at 12:30 p.m. The day also will include games, prizes, activities and music. Pre-registration is not required.

Community Access Unlimited (CAU) supports people with special needs in achieving real lives in the community. The angency provides support and gives voice to adults and youth who traditionally have little support and no voice in society. CAU helps people with housing, life skills, employment, money management, socialization and civic activities. CAU also supports opportunities for advocacy through training in assertiveness, decision-making and civil rights. LANCASTER, PA -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA swim team traveled to Franklin-Marshall College in Lancaster, PA from March 9th to 11th for the NJ YMCA 13 and Over State Championships.  During this 3 day meet, 51 State Qualifiers from FSPY competed against 25 YMCA swim teams from across the state. Nineteen FSPY swimmers scored points by finishing in the top 16.
