CLARK, NJ – The Clark Fire and Police Departments responded to a crash on the Garden State Parkway at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Monday. The incident occurred on the southbound side of the parkway just beyond the Clark exit at the site of the Westfield Ave. overpass.

According to Captain Ryan Might of the Clark Fire Department, once at the scene, responders found a single-vehicle at the crash site.  Firefighters from Clark and Cranford worked to extricate a female driver from the car. There were no passengers.

Might said the victim was attended to by FD personnel and Cranford EMS. Traffic backed up on the parkway as an Atlantic Air One helicopter landed on the roadway to retrieve the woman.  She was taken to the trauma unit at University Hospital in Newark according to officials.
