CLARK, NJ – After a long wait and much anticipation, Duck Donuts is opening their doors to the public on Friday, Dec. 7. The Clark store is the fifth location in New Jersey.
Duck Donuts starts with a warm made-to-order vanilla cake donut. After leaving the fryer, donut enthusiasts get to create their own donut combination by choosing from a variety of glazes, toppings and drizzles, including traditional favorites such as chocolate icing with sprinkles and more creative blends such as Ron Bevan’s favorite, maple icing with bacon.
Bevan owns the store with his wife Kristen Maloney. According to Maloney, they first experienced and fell in love with Duck Donuts where it all started in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. “We are so excited to finally be opening our first location and look forward to meeting the existing and soon-to-be Duck Donuts enthusiasts in Clark and the surrounding neighborhoods,” said Maloney.
The made-to-order revolution seems to have hit the food scene by storm. When it comes to donuts, Betsy Hamm, Duck Donuts’ Chief Operating Officer simplified the culinary encounter. “There is nothing like the taste of a warm donut and people like to customize that experience.”
Hamm said in addition to all the regular icings and toppings, seasonal flavors are introduced approximately every three months. Mint is the latest flavor to hit the toppings bar at Duck Donuts. Hamm said she enjoys it with Oreo cookie crumble.
No matter the combination, Duck Donuts in Clark will start serving up the hot treats on Friday morning. By the end of its first year, a store this size is projected to dish out 400,000 donuts according to Devon Lawrence, Franchise Business Consultant for Duck Donuts.
Duck Donuts is located in the Clark Circle Shopping Center at 77 Central Avenue. The store hours during this opening weekend are:
