Expert on Islam and Arabic Culture to Discuss "Jerusalem: What's the Struggle All About?

Dr. Mordechai Kedar, a recognized expert on Islam and Arabic culture, will discuss “Jerusalem: What’s the Struggle All About?” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, January 12, at Temple Beth O’r Beth Torah, 111 Valley Road, Clark.

Jerusalem is the world’s most treasured and fought-over city, considered holy to three great religions representing more than half of the world’s people. What is the source of the conflict, how long has it been going on, what are the various claims surrounding it and what are the chances of a peaceful resolution?

Dr. Kedar is assistant professor of Arabic and Middle East Studies at Bar-Ilan University and a member of the Herzliya Inter-Disciplinary Center study team on Facing Radical Islam. A  Lt. Colonel (Res) in the Israel Defense Forces, he is frequently asked for his insights by the Israeli Knesset and the U.S. Congress.
