FANWOOD, NJ -- High heat and humidity this week, combined with a performance issues of a new air conditioning unit, led to two unexpected days off for the Fanwood Grille (34 South Martine Ave., Fanwood) on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.
"We hate to disappoint anyone, but it was too hot for our customers to be comfortable," said chef Paul Watterson about the decision to close during the heat wave. "People want to come, relax and have an enjoyable meal. They can't do that when it's over 80 degrees inside."
The Fanwood Grille will reopen on Thursday morning, August 9, and operate through Saturday, August 11, when it will shut for a planned vacation week.
The eatery, best known for its lobster rolls, hot dogs, and award-winning soups, will return to normal operations on Saturday, August 18.
