HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ — DMR Architects continues to expand its offerings to its clients by hiring Colleen Mahr as its new Director of Business Development.
Her role at DMR Architects will be marketing and expansion of the firm's relationships in the public sector.
Mahr has worked in economic development for more than 20 years, starting in the City of Jersey City in the 1990s. She then spent several years working for a private company promoting charter schools throughout the U.S. Most recently, she worked for the County of Union as the head of the Division of Strategic Planning and Intergovernmental Relations.
Colleen Mahr is currently in her third term as the mayor of Fanwood -- a job that pays $1 per year. Among her successes has been overseeing the transformation of downtown Fanwood, an effort that earned the Borough a Smart Growth Award in 2014 and recognition in the New Jersey Handbook on Redevelopment.
“I’ve been impressed with Colleen’s diplomacy and communication skills since the 1990’s when DMR designed Golden Door Charter School in Jersey City,” said Lloyd Rosenberg, AIA, President and CEO of DMR Architects. “As municipalities throughout New Jersey recognize that their infrastructures and municipal buildings need upgrades and redevelopment, Colleen will be an invaluable resource in introducing them to DMR and the value that we can add to their communities.”
Mahr serves on the executive board of the New Jersey League of Municipalities (NJLM), and is past President of the New Jersey Conference of Mayors. She chairs the NJLM Land Use Legislative Committee and leads the Mayor’s Coalition for the Raritan Valley Rail Coalition. Earlier this month, she was re-elected vice chair of the Union County Democratic Committee.
