FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood Police Department has successfully identified and charged a 50-year-old Cranford man with the hit and run crash which resulted in the death of a Fanwood resident’s dog on Dec. 20. 

The driver of the vehicle was traveling eastbound on South Ave. between Laurel and Beech struck and killed a medium-sized dog and then fled the scene.

Police were able to identify the car and driver based on parts of the front bumper left behind at the scene, according to Fanwood police chief Richard Trigo.

The man was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report an accident, and criminal failing to report an accident injuring a domestic animal.
