Fanwood Police "Giving Tree" Project Is Underway; Community Invited to Help

FANWOOD, NJ -- The Fanwood Police Department is coordinating holiday gift donations for the fifth year with the Parents as Teachers program in Union County.

A giving tree with ornaments for each child is outside Borough Hall. Residents ar encouraged to take an ornament and return the unwrapped gift (with the tag attached) by Friday, Dec. 11, to either the Fanwood Police Dept. or the Borough Hall offices.

The Parents as Teachers home visitation program provides services to 60 families in Union County. The goals for the program are to improve pregnancy outcomes, increase parent involvement in children’s care and education, improve child health and development, prevent child abuse and neglect, and increase school readiness.

In many cases, this will be the only gift under the tree for the child. If you have questions, contact Howarth at (908) 322-5000 x115.
