Fanwood Resident Struck and Killed by NJ Transit Train

ELIZABETH, NJ -- The man fatally struck by a New Jersey Transit train in Elizabeth near the Broad Street station late Saturday night has been identified as 24-year-old Emmanuel Laboy from Fanwood, according to a report by NJ.com.

Laboy, earned a Master’s Degree in International Relations and Affairs from Columbia University in 2017 and a BA degree in political science a graduate Quinnipiac University in 2015, according to his LinkedIn profile. He served as an intern with U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ) and was placed as a Congressional intern with U.S. Rep Rosa DeLauro of Connecticut through the Gay & Lesbian Victory Institute. He also was a campaign worker for Obama for America in 2012. 
 
Laboy also  worked at Abercrombe & Fitch at the Bridgewater Commons Mall for almost eight years. In 2015, he wrote about the complicated relationship between homosexuality and religion for 101magazine.net.
