Fanwood-Scotch Plains Swimmers Excel at YMCA Silver Meet

SEWELL, NJ -- Eighty Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (“FSPY”) Swim Team Members earned required qualifying times and participated in the 2016 YMCA Silver Championships, held from February 19-21st at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, New Jersey. FSPY swimmers who placed in the top eight in their events and received medals included:

9/10 Girls: Helena Chan (5th, 100 yd. Back); Ellie Moose (1st, 200 Individual Medley (IM) and Meet Record, and 4th, 50 Free), and the 200 Medley Relay Team of Megan Lai, Moose, Caitlyn Falkowski, and Chan (8th). 

9/10 Boys: Jaden Wilkerson (4th, 50 Breast) and the 200 Free Relay Team of Thomas Yick, Tyler McGeehan, Dylan Condell and Bradley Frank (4th).

11/12 Girls and Boys: Isabella Betman (1st, 50 Fly and 5th, 100 Fly); Brandon Cortez (3rd, 200 IM); Owen Ferrone (4th, 200 Fly); Sean Merkle (5th, 200 IM and 8th, 500 Free); Jason Mongiovi (1st, 200 Fly, 3rd, 50 Fly, 3rd, 100 Fly, 5th, 500 Free, 8th, 100 Back, and 8th, 100 Breast) and the 200 Medley Relay Team of Merkle, Mongiovi, Ferrone and Hirad Sharifian (6th).

13/14 Girls: Angelina Hansel (5th, 100 Back); Martha Lewand (8th, 200 Free); Amanda Pyle (6th, 500 Free and 1000 Free); Rachel Small (2nd, 200 Back); Lucy Zhang (2nd, 100 Back) and the 200 Medley Relay Team of R. Small, Zhang, Hansel, and Marcelina Krowinska (6th). 

13/14 Boys: Colby Chen (2nd, 1650 Free and 8th, 100 Breast); Matthew Chen (2nd, 100 Free and 4th, 500 Free); Dominic Markwant (1st, 100 Breast, 2nd, 1000 Free, and 6th, 400 IM); Tomas Moore (7th, 200 Free) and the 200 Free Relay Team of Aidan Davis, M. Chen. Markwant, and C. Chen (8th).

15/18 Girls: Olivia Barcia (8th, 200 Free); Anna Dunchus (1st, 200 Breast and 2nd, 200 Fly); Maya Dunchus (1st, 100 Back); Megan Small (7th, 200 Breast and 8th, 100 Free); Caroline Warren (8th, 400 IM) and the 400 Medley Relay Team of Michaela Valli, A. Dunchus, Olivia Barcia, and M. Small (4th).
