Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Boys “Black” Swim Team Comes Up Short vs. Somerset Valley; Seniors Recognized at Final Home Meet

FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains Boys (FSPY) “Black” Swim Team hosted the Somerset Valley (SVY) Boys A Swim Team on Saturday, Nov. 12. The meet started with the Recognition of the Seniors: Chris Bondarowicz, Eric Chang, Brian Kenny, and Brody Rash. It marks the final home meet for these boys.The next dual meet will be at Lakeland Hills on Saturday, Dec. 5th.

The FSPY “Black” Boys team posted steady races all the way through and narrowly lost to SVY by 6 points with a final score of 184-190.

8-Under: FSPY Boys dominated their races by sweeping first, second and third places in 3 events: the 25 Free (Aaron Frank, Sean Stanik and Braden Michaels), 25 Breast (Zachary McGeehan, Douglas Gee and Stanik) and 25 Fly (Harrison McClure, Michaels and McGeehan). In the 25 back, Frank and McClure took 1st and 2nd. The team of Stanik, Michaels, McClure and Frank also took 1st place in the 100 Free relay.

9-10: Top scorers were Owen Waibel  (2nd 100 IM; 2nd 50 Breast), Ryan Jawor (2nd 50 Free, 50 Back). MacLaine Priesing (2nd 50 Fly, 3rd 50 Back), Evan Weber (3rd 100 IM, 3rd 50 fly) and Tyler McGeehan (3rd 50 Breast).

11-12: FSPY took 4 first place finishes: Darien Betances (50 Free and 50 Fly), Brandon Cortez (50 Breast) and Aidan Trenery (50 Back). Other top 3 finishers included Corey He (2nd 50 free and 50 fly), Hirad Sharifan  (2nd 50 breast), Dylan Negron (2nd 50 Back), Cameron Linenberg (3rd 50 back), Cortez (2nd 100 IM) and Ryan Kim (3rd 100 IM). The 11-12 Boys 200 Freestyle Relay Teams swept 1st and 2nd place with the team of He, Trenery, Sharifian and Kim touching 1st and the team of Cortez, Richard Park, Linenberg and Betances touching 2nd.

13-14: Matthew Chen touched 2nd in both the 200 IM and 100 Breast. Jeremy Kronheimer touched 3rd in the 100 free. Sean Merkle took 3rd in the 100 Back.

15-18: Josh Cohen took 1st in the 200 IM and 200 Back. Alan Shao touched 2nd in the 200 Back and 100 Fly. Chris Bondarowicz took 2nd in the 200 IM and 3rd in 100 fly.  Other top finishers were Logan D’Amore (2nd 100 Free), Brody Rash (2nd 200 Breast) and Eric Chang (2nd 200 Back).
