Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Fall I Session Registration Begins Tues, Aug. 15

FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- Registration for the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Fall I session begins at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, for full members and at 5:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 22, for program members and members of the community. 

The Fall I Session runs for 8 weeks from Sept. 5 through Oct. 29. It session includes a multitude of new programs for all ages from infants to seniors, as well as the YMCA’s most popular classes. For parents planning for the new school year, the Y offers before and after school child care programs in all of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood elementary and middle schools. Sports, games, homework support, exposure to the arts, fitness and time with friends are just a few of the highlights of our before and after school care program.

In addition, the Y offers full day child care for children ages 3 months to four years and preschool for children ages 2 ½ to 4 years old. Swim lessons are included in the child care and preschool curriculum. Parents can also register children ages 3-5 for preschool enrichment programs where children can learn about art, music, cooking, science, world culture, and more.   

The new school year also brings new opportunities for children of all ages to start new routines and habits, build new friendships and discover new possibilities and interests. This fall, we offer a variety of swim, gymnastics, dance, music, sports and fitness programs for preschoolers through 12th grade – everything from parent/child gymnastics to Ninja Warrior to Ballet Musical Theater and Tween Yoga.

The Y's Teen Wellness Program allows 7th and 8th graders the opportunity to learn how to use the equipment in our Fitness Center. Launching this fall will be our Fun Interactive Training (FIT) Room, supported by UnitedHealthcare, where middle schoolers can come and improve their athletic skills through games that build strength and agility.

Adults can enjoy the following new group exercise classes this fall: Strength Train Together, LaBlast, and STRONG by Zumba. Small group TRX and Pilates Circuit training classes are also available.

Two new programs have been added to the Y's specialized programming to support people living with chronic illness: Diabetes Education/Exercise Series and Blood Pressure Self Management.
