GREENSBORO, NC -- Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA (FSPY) swimmers found success at 2017 YMCA Short Course Nationals from April 3-7 at Greensboro Aquatics Center. Julie Stankiewicz, Rachel Maizes, Monika Burzynska, and Darlene Fung became national champions in the 200 Medley Relay.
Other FSPY swimmers with Top 5 finishes included Chris Bondarowicz (3rd in the 100 Breast and 4th in the 200 Breast), Rachel Maizes (3rd in the 100 Breast), and Monika Burzynska (5th in the 100 Butterfly).

Day 1 highlights

  • Chris Bondarowicz finished 4th in the 200 Breast (1:58:91 - a new personal best) and 11th in the 400 IM
  • Monika Burzynska placed 5th in the 100 Butterfly,
  • Josh Cohen finished 7th in the 1000 Freestyle and 13th in the 200 Freestyle
  • Marlise Moesch finished 10th in the 200 Freestyle
  • Darlene Fung placed 15th in the 100 Butterfly
  • Julie Stankiewicz, Rachel Maizes, Monika Burzynska, and Darlene Fung placed 3rd in the 400 Medley relay

Day 2 highlights:

  • Julie Stankiewicz, Rachel Maizes, Monika Burzynska, and Darlene Fung  finished 1st in the 200 Medley Relay
  • Chris Bondarowicz finished 3rd in the 100 Breast
  • Rachel Maizes finished 3rd in the 100 Breast
  • Josh Cohen finished 8th in the 500 Free
  • Marlise Moesch placed 19th in the 50 Freestyle
  • Darlene Fung finished 9th in the 50 Freestyle
  • Deedee Maizes, Marlise Moesch, Rachel Maizes, and Monika Burzynska placed 12th in the 800 Free Relay.
