Fanwood to Host Candlelight Vigil for Las Vegas Victims on Fri. Oct. 6

Fanwood will host a Candlelight vigil on Friday, Oct. 6 at Dhammakaya International Meditation Center (257 Midway Ave, Fanwood).

FANWOOD, NEW JERSEY -- Mayor Colleen Mahr, Fanwood Borough Council, members of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood Ministerium, and the Dhammakaya Temple will participate in a candlelight vigil to honor the victims of the Las Vegas Massacre on Friday, Oct. 6 at 6:30 p.m.

Residents of Fanwood and the neighboring area are welcome and encouraged to participate in the vigil on at the Dhammakaya Meditation Gardens, located at 257 Midway Avenue in Fanwood. This vigil is one among many taking place throughout Union County on Friday.

"We will gather at the beautiful meditation garden for a communal moment of silence and reflection," Mayor Mahr said.

The Borough of Fanwood wants to offer their thoughts and prayers to the victims’ families and for those who were wounded in the attack. Borough administration denounces the violent act of terror that occurred on Sunday, October 1 and want to acknowledge the first responders who reacted so quickly to help those who were injured.

In the event of rain, the vigil will be moved inside the Meditation Center.
