FANWOOD, NJ -- Mayor Colleen Mahr and the Fanwood Council recognized Recreation Commissioner Joanna Budries as the Borough's  Volunteer of the Month for the month of July 2018.

Budies, who describes herself as active and always interested in sports, has been a volunteer commissioner since 2012. She has been involved in the planning of all of the Recreation Department’s signature events, including the Easter Egg Hunt, Movie Night in LaGrande Park and the annual 5K race.

Her interest in tennis made her especially valuable in the recent rehabilitation of the LaGrande Park tennis courts.

Colleen Mahr and Councilman Anthony Carter presented Joanna with a print of the historic Fanwood train station as a token of appreciation of her volunteer efforts.

"She attends all of our events, along with her mom," Councilman Anthony Carter, a longtime member of the Recreation Commission, told TAPintoSPF. "You see them both working as volunteers at everything."
