SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- It is fab to be fit, but it's hard to do it alone.

So says Alla Wexler, owner of Fit to Be Fab (445 Park Ave., Scotch Plains), whose business revolves around nutritional education and planning, along with physical training.

"We meet the needs of any woman who wants to change her life, whether she is looking to lose weight, tone-up or prevent osteoporosis," Wexler states.

Fit to be Fab's advantage is that it runs its training sessions on an appointment basis every 1/2 hour from the early morning until noon, and then it resumes from 4:00 to - 8:00 p.m. The studio offers anywhere between 16 to 19 appointments a day, all run under the supervision of a personal trainer.

"We provide flexibility along with structure and accountability," Wexler says. "The group sessions are intimate on average 2 to 4 clients, where the trainer gets to know each client very well and is able to meet their individual needs. Because we have so many appointments available, we can serve the needs of virtually any client – whether she is a working professional, stay at home mom or a retiree.  We want people to set good habits and stick to them."

At the start of January, people are usually gung ho on fulfilling their New Year's resolutions, but by the end of January most of them become de-motivated and stop going to the gyms.

"It's different with us because of our appointment structure and accountability. When clients know that they have an appointment and the trainer is waiting for them, they come!  Half the challenge is getting here. Then, once there, you get motivated and coached by the trainer, which leads to great results"

Clients weigh in on Wednesdays and Thursday, to monitor their weight loss progress.

"To reach any effective body transformation, you need to do both weight training and cardio, and that’s exactly what each training session at the studio consists of," Wexler says.

"Each client develops her own schedule of appointments and the trainer monitors everyone’s attendance.  If they fall off, the trainers will call them! If they cannot attend a session, we encourage them to re-schedule by using our online scheduling tool."

According to Wexler, the first 30 days are crucial to changing habits.  Those that are committed to reaching their goals find that our system helps them generate excellent results."  Fit to Be Fab offers various training packages with and without nutrition support.

During "Heart Health Month" in February, the studio is offering complimentary cardio classes to the members of Scotch Plains community as following:  on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 7:00 to 7:30 a.m.  While there is no charge, all those interested must pre-register by calling the studio at (908) 299-6925.

Also on Thursday, Feb. 9th, from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m., Fit to Be Fab will host a Nutrition Workshop at the studio, “Meal Prep Made Simple -- Setting Yourself Up for Success,” which will provide advice on food preparation and planning. The workshop is free and open to the public, but participants must register in advance by calling the studio.

What makes Fit to Be Fab different is that it offers an intimate approach, structure and accountability, and the company is adding technology to the mix with a new Fit to be Fab app that enables clients to manage their own schedules on the go.

"Once fitness becomes part of our clients' lifestyles, they start feeling better, looking better and seeing their amazing body transformations empowers them to keep going," Wexler says. "Talking and reading about it doesn't get it done.  If you can’t get results on your own, we can help you!”
