SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Nick's Pizza is going from Falafels to Waffles.
Following the success of "visiting chef" Allon Shadmi, last week for its first Falafel Saturday, Nick's Pizza will host Albert Caamic of Froyo World in Scotch Plains to make his delicious Belgian Liège waffles on Sunday, Dec. 20 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
"We had no idea how well the guest chef would be. We sold out of falafels last weekend and demand continued all week," explained Paul Watterson, owner of Nick's Pizza. "I read about Froyo World on TAP and wanted to try their special Liège waffles. They are incredible."
Watterson visited the newly opened frozen yogurt shop this week to invite Caamic to sample his treats at Nick's this weekend.
"I'm thankful for the invitation to sample our waffles at Nick's this weekend," Caamic said. "I'm also looking forward to meeting people in Fanwood and introducing our Froyo World menu items to them."
The "visiting chef" program has proven popular at Nick's. Allon Shadmi sold out all of his product last weekend and will return again this weekend to make his traditional Middle Eastern food at Nick's from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
Falafel is comprised of deep-fried patties made from ground chickpeas, accompanied by salad and a tahini dressing on a pita. It is a popular food in Israel and other countries in the Middle East.
"We are excited to offer something a little different at Nick's. Allon's falafels and Albert's waffles are the real deal," Watterson said.
