FSPY 30+ Men’s Basketball League Week #6

Triples 'N Dimes center Troy Sims skies for a layup over Basket Brawlers defenders James Patrick and Chris Ward (#2), during Week 6 play in FSPY Men's 30+ Basketball League on 1/21.

FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA Men’s 30+ Basketball League reached the mid-point of its regular season during Week 6 competition.

Game #1
Winning team: Run It Back!     (46)
Losing team:  Droppin’ Dimes  (41)
RIB! survived a late rally by DD to post their 3rd win on the season. Stingy defense by RIB! held DD to 22% shooting.  RIB! was led by a pair of Gregs – Carder (19 pts), and Josephsen (12 pts). Mark Van Ostenbridge was impressive cleaning the glass for RIB! with 10 boards, to go along with 5 points. Eljay Aguillo led DD with 16 pts, Craig Cichocki had 7 pts along with 10 boards, and Chris Mattina contributed 6 pts with two treys.

Winning team:  Talkin’ Bout Practice  (58)
Losing team:   Team 8                 (33)

TBP took over sole possession of 2nd place with a convincing win. The game was close early, but TBP went on a 10-0 run late in the first half to go up by 9 at the break, and never looked back in the 2nd half with solid teamwork.  TBP was led by Joe DeGennaro (15 pts, 7 boards), Eric Halpin (14 pts), and Jeff Geneblazo strong off the bench with 8 pts on two treys. Chris Burke and Brendan Ryan led Team 8 with 13 pts apiece.

Game #3
Winning team:  Throwbacks  (52)
Losing team:   Game Over    (45)

The Throwbacks sped out to a 15-pt halftime lead as they jumped on Game Over early in the first half and coasted to their 6th win of the season, remaining undefeated on the year.  Game Over dropped their 2nd consecutive game. The Throwbacks were led by strong performances from Capt. Jamal Berry (24 pts, 10 boards) and Orlando Jean-Charles (17 pts, 5 boards).  Game Over was led by Gavin Ford and Geoff Gonzales who had 14 pts apiece, while Clay Torres contributed 11 pts and 9 boards.

Winning team: Basket Brawlers  (63)
Losing team:  Triples ‘n Dimes (57)

Pete Falco’s Basket Brawlers rallied late to hold off TND to post their 2nd win of the season.  BB was led by an impressive shooting display by Warren Lowe (31 pts, 5 boards, 7 assists, 6 treys).  Kevin Adams and James Patrick (7-7 from the field) each contributed 14 pts, as BB shot a sizzling 62% from the field.  TND was led by Troy Sims (20 pts, 8 boards), and Rich Cobbinah and Tim Gray, who contributed 15 pts apiece with 3 treys each.
