FANWOOD/SCOTCH PLAINS -- The Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA C Division Gymnastics Team started its competitive season with a home meet on January 25.
The C Division team competes USAG XCEL Gold rules and was represented by 14 gymnasts, many of whom were competing for the first time in three different age groups.
The 9 and under age group was represented by Milan Fevrier, who placed 1st on Bars and Floor and 3rd on Balance Beam. Placing 1st and 2nd on Balance Beam were Valeria Rodriguez and Ella Almo-Wint, respectively. Allegra Johnson also represented the team in this age group.
Sophia Psathas and Alana Lamberti tied for 2nd place on Balance Beam in the 10-year-old age group. Taking home 3rd place on Balance Beam was Evan Doran, who also placed 3rd on Bars and 4th on Vault. Emily Ibrahim also competed in this age group.
Alyssa Larmore was the 1st place finisher on Vault in the 11-year-old age group. She also placed 2nd on Balance Beam and 3rd in the All-Around. The winner on Bars was Emma Johnston, and the 1st place winner on Balance Beam was Eliana Woznik, who also placed 6th on Floor. Jenna Glander and Keira Brennan placed 4th on Floor and Balance Beam, respectively. Julia Squashic also represented this age group.
Gymnastics classes offered at the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA include parent-toddler, preschool and school age classes. They are offered Monday through Saturday. This is a great time to begin taking gymnastics at the YMCA. Registration is also open for summer school-age gymnastics, dance and sports camps. The Y also offers dance and sports classes as well.
