SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ - The Giants defeated the Nationals, 14-5, Sunday night to win the Senior Division baseball championship of the SPFBL before a large crowd at Union County Vo-Tech.

Adam Gross' three-run double capped a five-run first inning for the Nationals (11-1), who added six runs in the third inning. Gross finished with two hits and four RBI, Jason Trivisonno, T.J. Baylock and Andy Kipp each had two hits and two RBI, and Aidan Young went 2-for-2.

Kipp pitched two hitless innings to open the game, winning pitcher Aidan Young allowed a hit and an unearned run in one inning, Andrew Allen allowed two earned runs in two innings, Brendan Karyczak pitched a perfect sixth inning and Dylan Fei worked out of a jam to finish off a scoreless seventh for the Giants.

Drew Bartley, Trivisonno, Cole Mendolia, Fei and Robbie Dobies turned in standout plays in the field for the Giants.

For the Nationals, Gabe Barco had a double and scored a run, Josh Madera went 2-for-3 with an RBI triple, Jack Burke singled, stole a base and scored a run, and Sam Reeson and Matthew Nervi each had base hits. Andrew Jotz and Sam Reeson pitched for the Nationals.

The Giants had defeated the Yankees, 6-3, in the semifinals, which were highlighted by outstanding defensive plays in the outfield by Sean Stuart and Dylan Young. The Nationals knocked off the Cubs, 4-3, in the other league semifinal behind the pitching of Andrew Jotz and Zach Chung.
