SCOTCH PLAINS-FANWOOD, NJ -- In a pitcher's duel, Scotch Plains-Fanwood took advantage of two fielding errors and knocked off Governor Livingston, 3-1 on Tuesday afternoon.
Chris Gibbons (4-0) pitched a complete game, giving up just 1 run on 4 hits, with 5 strikeouts and 3 walks. He outdueled losing pitcher Ethan Frohman, who scattered 6 hits and gave up 3 runs (just two of them earned) with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts over six innings.
Kevin Maxwell singled in a run for the Raiders' only RBI.
Scotch Plains-Fanwood improves to 9-2 and will be seeded second in the Union County Tournament. Governor Livingston (10-2) will be the top seed. Games are scheduled to begin later this week.
