SCOTCH PLAINS/FANWOOD, NJ -- Girl Scout Week 2015 was recognized by the Fanwood Borough Council at its meeting on March 16 and the Scotch Plains Township Council on March 17.
Resolutions read by Fanwood Mayor Colleen Mahr and Scotch Plains Deputy Mayor Colleen Gialanella noted that March 12, 2015, was the 103rd anniversary of Girl Scouts of the USA, where girls discover, connect and take action to make their local communities and the world a better place.
The Fanwood proclamation was accepted by Girl Scouts from Cadette troop 40274 and Junior troop 40220. In Scotch Plains, these tasks were handled by FSP Service Team member Julie Murphy and girls from Daisy troops 40304, 42841 and 40111, Brownie troop 40083 and Junior troop 40470. In accepting the proclamations the girls mentioned some of the recent local service projects completed by Girl Scout troops to support their towns, and presented the Mayors and council members with some Girl Scout cookies.
