Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Pulls Away in Second Half to Defeat Plainfield, 53-35

PLAINFIELD, NJ -- Erin McNulty and Izzy DiDario, who combined for 28 points, helped Union Catholic pull away in the final quarter for a 53-35 victory over Plainfield on Monday in Plainfield.

UC, clinging to a 22-20 lead at halftime, outscored Plainfield 13-8 in the third quarter and put the game away with an 18-7 showing in the final period to improve to 2-0 on the season.  

McNulty, a freshman, had 17 points and now has 35 points combined in the first two games of her career. DiDario scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Madison Johnson and Gabrielle Welle each had a strong all-round games for UC. Johnson had seven points, six rebounds, and four assists, and Gabrielle Welle had eight points, seven rebounds, and four assists.

Girls Basketball: Union Catholic Will Play In Game To Support Childhood Cancer

SCOTCH PLAINS, NJ -- The Union Catholic varsity girls basketball team is honored to be playing in the Gold-Out game at Bernards High School for the third straight year, a game that will raise money and awareness for Childhood Cancer.

The event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 24 at 2 p.m, is called the “Gold-Out’’ game because gold is the awareness color for Childhood Cancer.
